North Texas Black Restaurant Week Celebrates 3rd Anniversary

Showcase of Black restaurants, June 16 – 23, 2018

DALLAS – North Texas Black Restaurant Week is back showcasing black restaurants, scratch kitchens, caterers, bakeries, and food trucks throughout Dallas, Tarrant, and Collin Counties, June 16 – 23, 2018. Presented by DFW Black Bloggers and Achieve PR, the one-week foodie experience will feature vegan, soul food, BBQ and gluten-free options during the Dallas Black Restaurant Week Kick-Off event held at Southwest Center Mall (3662 W Camp Wisdom Rd Dallas, TX 75237), June 16th, 2018 from 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

This year will be hosted by Starving on A Budget – ( Food Writer, Dalila Thomas (, Black ( Enterprise ( Featured Chef and Author, Gabrielle McBay ( owner of Ellements Cuisine and Pastry Concepts, and Clyde Greenhouse owner of Kessler Baking Studio ( North Texas Black Restaurant Week Founder Denita Quinn states, “We keep this event free for all participants to help small business owners focus on increasing revenue, generate marketing exposure, and add a customer base. Customers can buy directly from the participants during the week of Juneteenth at their locations throughout North Texas.” Attendees will be able to sample dishes, purchase entrees, view cooking demonstrations, meet featured chefs and support black businesses.

In addition to complimentary marketing services for restaurant week, participants will also receive information from the Dallas Metropolitan Small Business Development Center ( to help them grow and sustain their business including a free business adviser and orientation. A printed directory of restaurants and participants will be published in the Dallas Weekly, The Dallas Examiner, and website.

Dallas ISD | 2018 Knowledge is Power Conference

Dallas Independent School Districts MWBE Dept. Presents the 2018 Knowledge is Power hosted by Dallas County Community Colleges and sponsored by the Greater Dallas Asian Chamber of Commerce, Dallas Black Chamber of Commerce, Greater Dallas Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, Great Southwest Black Chamber of Commerce and the DFW Minority Development Council. The event was held at the Bill J Priest Institute the satellite campus of El Centro College on Saturday, April 28th, 2018.

Achieve PR covered this event as the pre-event marketing engagement and onsite social media management team for the Dallas ISD MWBE Dept.

Through our social efforts the event registered over 300 attendees and increased the social media presence of Dallas ISD MWBE’s online small business interaction.

The Blueprint for Business Excellence Workshops featured marketing tips on how to build a marketing blueprint for networking, social networking strategies, how to M.I.N.G.L.E. and turning your contacts into contract. Additional workshops included developing capability statements, cover letters.

Tuesday, January 23, 2018 — Builders of Hope Community Development Corporation announced that its board of directors has appointed James Armstrong III, as the new President and CEO, effective immediately.  As President and CEO, James will continue the development corporations mission to transform Dallas urban areas by building affordable housing, providing homebuyer education, workforce development, and community pride.

“I am honored to be named as the next CEO of Builders of Hope Community Development Corporation, an organization with a 20-year history of transforming urban neighborhoods,” said James Armstrong III. “This is a huge victory in the fight to improve economic mobility in Dallas and I look forward to the work ahead.”James Armstrong III has been an innovative leader for the Community Fellowship Church since becoming Senior Pastor in 2015. Through community outreach programs and corporate partnerships, Community Fellowship Church, under Armstrong’s leadership, has become an instrument of transformation for the West Dallas community and a helpful resource for those in need.
